Early morning treats and mud

The DOR and mushboy come out every morning at 6:00 to feed Freedom his mush and give Salty his medicine. I know the DOR read the resolutions that I wrote for her because I am now getting a treat each morning also. If I don't walk over to the fence to get it she will walk out and give it to me, in exchange she gets a nuzzle.
Here I am giving her the hypnotic stare while thinking "you will give me a whole handful of treats", seems to work pretty well.
Hurry up with those treats already.
I hope whatever is in your hand is my treat because I am going to eat it!
Here I am giving my "sweet boy" face. I got my treats and gave the DOR a smooch, now I am just going to stand here and look adorable.

So here is what the DOR's boots look like when she goes to work. She keeps a spare pair of shoes in her office, but on occasion she ends up wearing her mucky boots all day. She has a lot of students who live on working ranches, so they all have something in common...muddy boots. I know that her boots are muddy because she loves me enough to go through the slop to give me my morning treats and get a nuzzle.

So here is to the muddy boots that belong to all of our DORs...they are a sign of how much they love us.
Enjoy your day and don't forget to hug your DOR

Mmmm yeah. I'm afraid those would get left in the laundry room. We try hard to leave as much of the outside where it belongs. Those boots look really, really comfy.

At home the boots get left by the dorr, in fact all shoes get left by the door. For some reason they frown on me running around the school in slippers or sockfeet. I do try not to wear mucky boots, but sometimes it just happens.

Leay Fry,
Forgot to add the boots are very comfy...that is part of the problem. They are Ariat FatBaby Boots.

I used to be a dental assistant and I would feed the horses before I went to work in my tennis shoes, and somedays my shoes would just stink! I had to start wearing slip on shoes to feed and then change into my tennis shoes. There is just something not right about horsey smells while sitting in the dental chair!! LOL!!

At my sister's place, in the fall/winter, there is a little creek next to the backyard that you have to cross (via footbridge bridge) to get back to the house. I dip my boots and rinse the mud off in the creek, then walk across the lawn to the patio and voila~ my boots are clean! :)
Enjoy your treats Jack!

DOR - what grade do you teach? Growing up, I spent time with my grandmother on a small South Dakota ranch and went to a two-room school - best education method ever! I taught 4th grade here in Florida years ago before switching careers - we got to teach Florida History, which was so much fun for a girl from South Dakota.

I really like reading your stories Cactus Jack. One day, I went to work and had to go to a meeting with my boss who is a city girl and would not be caught dead in boots. I smelled something really bad and realized it was coming from under the conference table. Oops, it was me! Now, I wear different shoes out to the barn and change before I go to work. Usually....

Oh, the kids remember the smell of muddy boots! While in school, at all the evening functions, Cowboy never missed a one...he usually stood in back, but in small schools, there are small auditoriums! Combine the enery of all the people, "smell" rises and floats around. The kids may not have "seen" Cowboy there...but they always knew he was by the Odor wafting around!

Florida Beach Basics,
The DOR is the Dean of an Alternative High School.
The worst thing that ever happened with her boots is when she showed up to a school board meeting and was asked to speak. She hadn't plannedon speaking and was running late from chores, didn't have time to change...she had stuff all over her boots and tried to hide it with her coat.
