Freedom found his butt!

Saturday was farrier and therapist day. The last time the farrier worked on Freedom the old guy couldn't support his weight on his right hind leg. It took two people to help hold him up and the farrier had to work low and fast. Freedom had lost his butt somehow. The therapist recommended exercises for Freedom to do. Since that visit Freedom has done his exercises, however the DOR wasn't sure they working. One day Freedom could support weight on his right hind and not his left, the next day things were completely opposite. Well the old guy shocked them all. He stood to have both hinds done without any help. He grunted a bunch, worked up a sweat, but he did it on his own. The therapist cheered him on and the DOR was a bit teary to see him doing so well. The farrier worked low and fast, giving him frequent breaks. The farrier commented on how much stronger he was this time. WAY TO GO OLD MAN! At 42 years old Freedom is still surprising us all.
This is Freedom at 41 years old scratching his neck like a foal, the support crew chief is helping him out.

I got my tootsies done, I was good for the farrier. He says I have really hard feet, so much for the myth of appy feet. The therapist looked me over. She worked over some kinks in my neck, put some ribs back into place, and worked on loosening up my shoulders. She said I am a bit muscle bound. I knew I'm not fat, I am a burly he-man gelding with rippling muscles. The therapist had a bit of a hard time being able to reach around my massiveness to align my withers, but she got the job done. I have exercises to do too now. I have to practice pulling up my ribs and withers, along with bum tucks. Seems to me that these exercises are just an excuse for the DOR to goose me.
Harley has to do leg stretching exercises to loosen up his front end. Salty and Ginger got off scott free...their time is coming though.
The weather has been good enough that we have gotten to be nekkid for two days in a row! The DOR is now making us work for our food. Instead of getting it in a tub where we can stand around and eat all day, she is now scattering small piles around the pasture. We have to wonder around, getting more exercise, in order to get all of our hay. I think she having us walk a bunch to start getting us in shape for spring riding. I think she is serious about this endurance riding thing. She has even been exercising more, lost five pounds while she was at it too.
Well I am off to show the mares my massive muscles and lovely feet.
Enjoy your day and don't forget to hug your DOR

I think Freedom is the oldest horse I've ever heard of. The QH that taught me was 35 and he was a spry old bugger. He still had plenty of spunk.

You are one handsome spotted boy! I think the appy feet thing is a myth - I have a beautiful barefoot appaloosa ( Red) here in England, and he has feet like iron. He would envy you your sweet little mare - he lost his adoring filly a few months ago, and now has a grouchy old gelding, who doesn't feel the need to follow Red around telling him how wonderful he is.

Wow, Freedom looks absolutely incredible for his age.
Cactus Jack, muscle bound sounds way better than being overweight and you look fabulous!
