Quote for the week

My horse's feet are as swift as rolling thunder. He carries me away from all my fears and when the world threatens to fall asunder his mane is there to wipe away my tears.~Bonnie Lewis
This is the DOR and Hank the Tank at a team sorting event two summers ago. Hank was the horse that dried the DOR's tears when her aunt Betty died. The DOR had gone to work and her husband called to inform her that Betty had passed away before he had gotten to the hospital. The DOR left work, went home and wept for a bit, and then she turned to her horse. She saddled up Hank and he carried her through her tears and pain. Hank walked and walked as the DOR wept her tears. When there were no more tears left Hank kept walking, he walked in the rain carrying a broken hearted DOR. When he felt her finally relax he broke into a gallop and carried her until she smiled. Once the DOR felt like she could face the world again Hank stood quietly while she dismounted and buried her face in his neck.
The DOR has always found solace with her horses. I help her leave work behind every day. She comes out to the ranch, I nicker to her softly, and a smile is immediately on her face as she relaxes. The fleet feet of horses carry their riders to a place spiritually where joy exudes. Yesterday the DOR found it with me at a clinic. Today she will find it with the herd as she works with the farrier and equine therapist. Tomorrow she will find it once again when she gets her daily hug from me.
It seems the biggest job that we horses have is to keep our DORs centered in a place where there is joy. Who knew that joy came wrapped up on four legs?
Enjoy your day and don't forget to hug your DOR

Jack, I hear 'ya. My horses help me to relax after a hard day at school, too. Sometimes I cried in Sunni's mane. Horses are so special. They tune in to our emotions. Have a wonderful Sunday!

IT's so great that Hank was able to help out your DOR like that. It always help to have someone to help you through the tuff times. And it's sometimes really nice when all they do is listen, and take all your worries away. Jack you are lucky to have such a great friend, in Hank.
