Today I would like to talk about apologies. Yesterday a famous person made a public apology. Seems a lot of people have an opinion about the sincerity of his apology, personally I have no interest in it one way or another. It did remind me though that I probably owe Mushboy an apology though. You see I tried to buck him off a couple of years ago, yes this old guy can still catch air. He was riding and asked me to leave the paddock and I didn't want to go. I was standing on my "lookout" spot keeping an eye on things and hadn't finished yet. He persisted and in protest I started bucking, I bucked for a good 30 feet before I stopped. Mushboy stayed on, but I scared him. I wish I had never done that, Mushboy is a good kid and I had bad behavior. Mushboy jokes that I did that when I was quite a bit younger so he can understand...yep I was 44 and I have grown a lot since then LOL!
I hope that the one thing that comes out of this famous person's public apology is that others stop to see if they need to make any apologies in their own lives. Maybe a few humans owe apologies to their animal friends. I know that the DOR wishes she could apologize to Moonshine Nikki, her childhood horse. She feels bad about being a stupid kid and not always being the DOR that this special horse deserved.
So think about any creature that maybe needs to be told "I am sorry for...." it will make the world a better place.
Life is so good! Oh and Jack told me to remember to say: Enjoy your day and don't forget to hug your DOR!

Sincere apologies take a strong secure person. We could all probably work on those aspects of ourselves.
I'm sure mushboy appreciates the apology and he forgives you for the scare. We all have times in our lives that if we look back I'm sure an apology would be in order. Thanks for the reminder to be kinder.
That's mighty big of you to apologize to Mushboy. Actions speak louder than words, and time always determines the sincerity of an apology.
I have wished I could say sorry in person to my mare Star because I wasn't a very good DOR.
I hope she's forgiven me up in heaven...
Cute post, such a pretty spotted boy you are, Freedom. I'm sure Mushboy can forgive you. :)
This really made me think more about apologies, especially in relation to my profession as an educator. A sincere apology can be good, but often someone thinks saying "I'm sorry" erases whatever they did and makes it okay. We teach kids to say they are sorry so it builds a good habit, but to also DO something to make the other person feel better. Like help them rebuild their tower, draw them a picture, etc. We want them to take the time and have it be a meaningful experience. And make it a better lesson overall, because if they are apologizing for something, they likely did something unkind. We also don't want the person (victim) to say "it's okay" after they are told I'm sorry. Because it's NOT okay that you bit me/knocked down my tower/hit me, etc. Instead, we teach them to say "I accept your apology."
It's easy to say "I'm sorry" but sometimes it's just words.
Hope you are having a great weekend!
Wise words, Jack! If everyone had good character and morals, there would be no need for apologies, though.
Good for your apologizing for your immature ways.

It is very hard to say you are sorry sometimes but once you do it empowers you!
