Trail preperation

The DOR has been watching videos and reading books in preparation for the competitive trail ride. She competed in trail horse classes when she was younger, spent a lot of time out in the hills with her horse, and never had any problems.
I am voting for a trail more like the second video...less work for me. I still want to know what fake fish in a net have to do with a ride in the arid steppe? She hasn't turned rabbits loose in the arena, had a coyote run out from behind the wood pile, and so far there have been no snakes (I hate snakes)...so just how prepared am I?

The DOR has also been watching a video tape of one of my first trail rides, back when I was three. I did really well and not a snort in site. She seems to think that as long as I am busy I won't be snorty...well were is the fun in that?

Enjoy your day and don't forget to hug your DOR

Oh the World Show trail looked like fun!! Trail horses are such good horses. They are really good at their gates and good sure footed horses!! It's amazing how well and soft those show horses are!!

The first video was informative. I didn't realize that there were trail competitions like that. Very fun!!

Oh boy...I wanna do the "Rough cut" ones or the snow ones!!! The arena ones walking over the poles aren't my cup of tea. Jesse and I have been working on the teeter totter a few times, need to get back out there give him a bit more practice, but he did go over it the 1st two times, then decided that it should be side passed??? LOL give me the jumping over logs, splashing into water and sliding down a wet hill on Jesses big quarter horse butt!!! My girlfriend has done the OR trail clinics 2 years now and loves it. Always begs me to stay longer in the desert so I can do them with her!!! Thanks for the fun!

We are training for a competitive trail ride too but my mare is very "snorty." Love that word Jack! Tell me though, why do you all like to do that snorting stuff?
