I took this as I was leaving the ranch this afternoon. After all of the ugly weather we have been having I thought this sight was so pretty.
When the wind blows hard I always worry about the oak tree breaking. I know that if something bad happened to this tree I would feel horrible. These photos show the damage sustained by the tree: one large broken branch still hanging in the tree and a small branch on the ground. It never ceases to amaze me how this tree seems so unaffected by the things that go on around it.
Please go visit the other great Skywatch participants at SkyWacth Friday There are wonderful photos from all around the world!

It's amazing the strength those old trees have. They just flow with the storms.
I know how you feel about that tree. We have one in front of the house that is so old, I always worry about that one too. Nice photos.
During the hurricanes a lot of the old trees came tumbling down. It's scary. Luckly I live in the middle of an old rice field. No trees.
And it must be wonderful to see the sun after all your bad weather!
It is no wonder they say "as strong as an oak" as nothing seems to affect it. They are beautiful trees to have aroung. In the small town I grew up in, oaks lined all the streets and they had been there for almost 100 years. How lovely they looked in summer.
I'm glad it withstood another test of its strength.
The sun in the first one fairly jumps out at you!
100mph winds--yipes. Did just butt up against the oak tree and last it out? MB
Great shots there - my friend.
The first photo is very nice. Your tree seems quite big and strong. I hope it will resist against storms during long years. Have a nice week-end! :-)
Beautiful sunset! Yes it's nice to get back to some decent weather. We had a nice warm day here too and it felt like heaven.
Beautiful sun, we will take it when we can get it, right? I went with a moonrise, come and see. - Margy
